Masking isn't Just for your Face

Updated: Feb 8, 2021

Do you guys know the importance of HAIR MASKS? With consistent use they can dramatically change the condition of your hair. Here are a few benefits of using them:

-reduced hair breakage & damage

-shinier, stronger, and softer hair

-helps to reduce frizz in the hair

-adds moisture to dry hair

Hair masks are a great way to affordably treat your hair at home. They should be used at least 1x a week, but can definitely be used more often than that. Recently, I’ve actually been substituting my normal conditioner out for hair masks each time I wash my hair and have noticed an amazing difference. While conditioners tend to rest only on the surface of hair strands, hair masks work their way further into the hair cuticle, resulting in better beneficial effects. One thing I want to make clear is that if you have split ends, no product is going to “fix” them or fully repair them. The only way to 100% get rid of split ends is to cut them off. While a hair mask cannot get rid of split ends completely, they will regardless still help to better the condition of your hair, especially if you suffer from frizz or dryness. Additionally, they will also prevent further hair damage. Generally, the best way to apply hair masks is to first shampoo and clean your hair. Using warm water helps to open up your hair cuticle, allowing for greater product penetration. Then, towel dry your hair and remove as much moisture as possible. Apply the product throughout your hair, mainly focusing on your ends, as they are what need it most! Leave the product on for as long as suggested. If taken off before the recommended time, (which is there for a reason,) you will not get the full effects of the product. I also recommend placing a shower cap or plastic bag over the hair while it sits to hold in heat and better penetrant the hair. You can even leave it in while cleaning the house or watching tv! It won‘t hurt to leave it in a little longer!

Here at Chez LeDuc Salon, we have a few deep condition treatments for both take home and in salon services. We would be happy to help you find the best treatment for your hair.

If you have any questions or would like some advice on what hair mask would be best for your hair needs, please feel free to ask!
